Popper colours

Post by I Wish »

What colours would be best for targetting Queenfish and Trevs? I only have light gear so am using poppers around the 100m length.

colour doesn't matter. Make it bloop and spray lots of water at a reasonably quick speed.

I like darker colours for barra. Darker gives a good silhouette esp at night. Queenies and Trevs will hit anything moving quickly.

Red head white body roosta poppers the smaller ones. Short quick pops all the way back to the boat.

Metal slugs work better in my opinion. Poppers are only good for surface strikes but metal catches more fish as you can sink themto any depth needed

I don't think colors matter to a fishs vision. its the action of the lure , the depth, the time of the day that matters. I have seen folks with dead baits getting hit every 15 minutes bottom fishing, the fishes are doing acrobatics at surface but they feed below.
