Durrak lake's not a bad place to flick fly around for barra and tarpon,

also fished channel island (rocky point near boat ramp) for queenys and GT + ( ;) barra )

lee point beach is also good for pelagic's on the fly.

ohh, and the hush hush a few week's back was the big barra comeing from buff by the darwin flyrodder's club members. lots of people ulled nice fish from the same spot with the fly rod while it was going off, never saw any lure caster's there though.

Camfish. Until you start putting photos up of all these prized catches from colourful places, no one will believe u. Fact. End of story. As far as we're concerned, you're hopeless.

Hi guys I too got my hands on a fly set up. A 10wt set it up with some nice Rio Tropic Intermediate however Not having tried my hand at it since ultra light fishing for Brown Trout in the Drakensberg (South Africa) casting a much heavier outfit has been a whole new game!

No fish to speak of yet but working on it.

Itching to get a skinny on it. Actually itching to get anything on it.

Keep us posted Peachy

Fly fishing around Dariwn ?

Cheers Big D. I'm still keen to catch anything on fly. Still perfecting casting etc but getting there. Practice practice practice. Tying flies is awesome. Problem is there aren't a lot of patterns for baitfish. A lot for lava and insects.

Yep, I watched some fly rodders casting off the rock in the middle of the river at the bend about 200m from the ramp and landing barra, all while I was catching some live bait. From a distance it looked like they were walking on water. When I got there they were wading back to shore just prior to the start of the incoming.

The next day I was back there and there was a croc lurking around there. Not a big one but I know from personal experience that they can give a nasty bite.

I find Sooty Grunters are an easy target on trout weight fly rods. Can even use a lot of the same fly patterns.

Yep! They boys from they fly rodders club got onto a good patch there and cracked the code, remarkably they managed to keep it quiet too. They got some big fish and plenty of them for about two weeks. Good to see somebody else can sort of confirm what I was saying. Gee can't even give a few tips to people asking for it without being attacked. Some right tools on the fourm.

So now in thinking of heading out to shady camp on Saturday. Is it worth it? Is the road ok for a 2 wheel drive? Not real sure as I haven't been out that way much. Any help would be appreciated.

Road is alright unless they have a storm. Any rain turns the road to shite
Dunno about fly fishing there on a Saturday. Usually a few people on the weekends might be hard to get enough space.

Can always cast of the fresh boat ramp! or hit the rockhole boatramp if room is an issue.

I'll just start flinging the fly around like an unknowing pleb and they'll all move away in fear of copping a hook to the face. That's my plan anyway. Ha ha ha.

Old man hooked me in the ear with the fly at south aligater culvert,

Thank god old mate driveing past in the hilux realised what happened and stoped before dragging the fly line and my ear up the highway.
