Clingon Billfish Fly Variation

Post by deepblack »

Hi All,
This may be of interest to some of you, Swoffa especially. After trying to tie a Clingon fly and getting the S#*ts with the way the fly was puffing, hook wrapping, and generally losing its' shape in the water (not to mention hating working with epoxy  ). I had a think about it and came up with this alternative:

The addition of a small skirt mimics the teaser really well and solves all the issues mentioned. It casts really well for its' size and is much quicker to tie. I used Loctite 406 to bond the threads and the skirt just slips over the top after the glue is dry stretching to be a snug fit. It also means you could change the skirt colour if at any time you wanted to. Will let you know how it fishes after tommorrow hopefully.
Cheers,
John.
