Hey all,
Been in Melbourne for the past 4 months due to university studies. It's been too long since I've done any fishing at all, so I decided to do two fishing trips in Victoria over the break.
First trip I went to Mornington Peninsula with a few mates and did a charter with RelaxGoFishing. It was a nice sunny day, with a slow incoming tide. Managed to get a few pinkies and heaps of flatheads. Couldn't hook on to the bigger pinkie keepers unfortunately But the snappers do fight hard here, for a pound to pound fight, these fish put up a good fight for their size! The guide advised it's better to go in dawn and almost guarantees a big pinkie ! Also heard from the guides that a few "NT" people have been on this charter recently...
The second trip we drove up Mount Dandenong ranges in south eastern Victoria. The scenery was really beautiful on the way, and we stopped by at the Australian Trout farm. Basically, you have to pay for what you catch here, they have an abundance of Australian Salmon, Rainbow Trout and Brown trout. Rainbow trout was $18/kg and grow up to 3kg , whilst the salmon was $22/kg and can go up to 4.5 kg.
It was good fun on the light tackle and we decided to keep 2 rainbow trouts , to the 1.5 kg mark. Although they dont compare to the fight of barras, they sure are great eating Took the fish home and made an excellent dinner !!
But overall , it's good to get back into the fishing scene ! And good to have a change from NT fishing. Can't wait till I get back to Darwin in mid year, going to fish everyday !!

Looks like a top spot. Wouldn't mind paying for the fish when you can catch it yourself. Good post bloke
