if its just a broken end eyelet he can either buy one and araldite it on himself or take it to any tackle shop and they should be able to do it then and there for about $15

To get the old one off CAREULLY apply heat to the metal sleeve section, When it is too hot to touch gently take it in your unprotected fingers and twist it slowly off. You need to twist and pull. If it doesnt move apply a little more heat, usually a cigarette lighter will get it hot enough. I dont use araldite, I use craft glue sticks that you can get at bunings or spotlight or I have one if you want one.

Hope it helps

The fellas at Craig's Fishing Warehouse fixed mine onto spot for the price of the new rod tip. 5 minute turnaround and cheap - couldn't ask for more.

Yeah - what CJGP said.
The 'craft glue' is heat melt glue - which does what the name suggests :D

At Bunnings it's in the power tool area as 'sticks' (cartridge replacements for
Heat Melt Glue Guns - a packet of 10 or so less than $5 from memory ...)

Shave bits off with a blade, stick it in the new rod tip, hit it up with your cigarette
lighter and bang it back on the rod tip.

frenchie at tackle box has replaced mine for me free of charge and on the spot, and if you do it your self a glass of boiling water is enough to melt the glue

yeah simple fix.
heat with a lighter then simply twist pull the old tip off.
then just put a new one on. can buy from all the taclke shops - $2.00 or so.
also handy to carry a small tube of super glue in your taclke box.
can glue eyes back on in the middle of nowehere when required.
