A mate showed me a vid of tassie crays entering and leaving his pots at will

this is very similar.
I will have to rethink the way i tie the bait in the pots.

Fascinating video, and a few large crabs too by the looks. I assume whoever shot the video stayed next to their float for the 4 hours, lest some share farmer finds a Go Pro as well!!
Cheers,

Ash

Noticed one big thing with the direction of the crabs approaching the trap. Most of the crabs approached from the one side of the trap. I assume this is the down current side of the pot (the side the scent runs down). All the crabs took a lot of time walking up and down that side of the pot and couldnt find the entrance. It is for this reason when I drop my pots I ensure that my entrances face the down stream side of the current. This is so the crabs can walk straight into a door and dont have to walk around to find one. I also like to check my pots freaquently so that crabs dont walk back out before you get to them. Using tight doors helps stop them from walking out again.

Very interesting to watch this sort of thing. I want to put my camera on one of my pots but get scared of crocs towing the pots away. :croc:

or worse, imagine coming back to find that the share farmers have cleaned your pot out entirely, camera and all :(
