Fished South Gutter

Post by CodFather »

Well fellas fished south gutter today on the neaps, saw a few mac's chasing sinkers up from bottom bashing unfortuantly any floating baits put out where taken by sharks. Action was medium with a couple of nice coral trout caught at 55cm, plenty of trickies with a few nice sized goldies. As poor Scotty found out 20 metres was the diff between catching or not. got 1 queenie at 91 cm as well. Sharks were thick.

Rough yea, the southerly wasn't to bad the northerly was worse. South gutter is about 16 klms NE from charles point and about 40klms out of Darwin. As the name states it's a gutter of varing depth and width.

I usually try and find the ledges then following them looking for schools to bottom bash. Fished it 3 times with about the same success each time. I suppose that's why the charter boats go there. I find it very hard to get over the fish, admiration to the charter guys that seam to manage it all the time. As for north gutter it's a bit further out.

cheers
