Victorian Western District Lakes Firing
The last 4 weeks have seen Western District Lakes fishing exeptionaly well. Deep Lake has rainbow trout to 1.5kg , Lake Toolirook ( Etrick) rainbows to 1.8kg, Wourdi Bullock has seen Brown Trout to 2kg and smaller rainbows.
Lake Bullen Merri has Browns to 4kg and abundant rainbows to 2kg. All caught on mudeye and powerbait.
One of the best months fishing Iv'e had.

Add Bolac to the list also, rainbows from 3-7lb,and only 12 months old. Although the secret is out there the last fortnight, was about 60 boats on it yesterday.... doesn't do much for the fishing in a 2 meter lake. Adventure bound episode filmed a fortnight ago there is going to air next week....It was good while it lasted!
The female fish out of Tooliorook atm are the best trout I have ever eaten

Barra Mick,
Lake Toolondo is dependant on Rocklands Reservoir being full.
From Web site: Wimmera Angling Association request 4,000 rainbow trout Drought affected in 2011. Review if water levels change over winter.
So it looks as though they are waiting for Rocklands to fill then feed Toolondo. Thats all I can find out.
Had some great fishing there on falling water levels, less water more big fish! It's used as a irrigation water supply primarly I think, pity.
Cheers

Just found the official site for Wimmera Water levels. Toolondo is getting water from Rocklands now and is 36% full. Looks as though they are filling it to 50% and then will stock it.

It wont take long for the Toolondo fish to get big. Back in its day it had amazing growth rates. Was a fantastic place to fish. I wonder if the wash tommorow van park still exists. Cant see that they would have kept going during the dry years.
