Great post there Tugger! Shame about the fish (still got some though) but the sights would have made it all worth while.

Dunno if I'll ever again complain about the price of petrol in our cities!! :bonk:
Anyway - great write up and complemented by some nice pics too...

Im getting a bit envious of these kimberly adventures, it could be starting to rate some serious concideration, particularly if that is a strong wind warning. Good story and trip effort.

thanks everyone for the positive reviews, apologies for spelling & grammar but I had a very early start yesterday.....
I have spent alot of time down that way over the years in pearling & then chartering
boats were my 6m oceanriver 115 yamaha 4st (in the classifieds for sale) & Erics is a 6m black arrow with 150 honda
I had a 110l Waeco under the platform & swagged it on deck. just spent a bit of time stashing everything properly & not taking too much
blackarrow had a 60l engel & esky of brine which still froze beers after a week & Chris slept on the roof.
only had a jerry of fresh water as there are plenty of spots to find more. had to carry 100lt fuel on deck but it wasn't in the way.
S/E rarely blows as hard as broome or darwin for that matter in that area, worst part can be crossing king sound as it gets tidal streams up to 9-10 knots, nasty with wind over tide, sometimes there can be rows of 3m breakers in the middle of nowhere but the chart will show a ridge coming from 80m up to 12!! late afternoons often best time, rest of the time prevailing winds blow offshore.
other launching spots are Derby or One Arm point
