lol that sux
When asked by a non-fisherman "how many fishing rods do you actually need?", the correct response is either:
A) n+1 (where n is the number if rods you currently have); or

B) n-1 (where n is the number of rods which would cause your other half to dump you)

Just a whipe down with a damp cloth does the trick on all my cork grips. I have had cork grips for years and it seems to work alright for me

I keep mine dirty. I believe the mud and dirt caked up makes it a stronger rod and you get a more natural lure action in the water.

A bit off topic but does anyone here wrap their grips with anything? My mate wraps his in tennis raquet grip and swears by it reckons it absorbs sweat etc makes the grip better to cling onto. Haven't tried it myself but the idea sounds like it has merrit. He has some funky looking grips mind you, yellow, red, blue etc!
Just remember if all else fails "try like F##K" !!!!!!!

lol, i lost a calcutta 400 combo overboard too. Was just having a quick rest during the heat of the day before the tide changed. Rod was flat on bow and I knocked it off.

Over the next hour the barra started to bite, and I spent the hour with the lure retreiver trying to get if off the bottom. After raising it 3 times and it dropping again, finally I got it back into the boat. Rinsed it with fresh water and bingo - worked perfect straight up.

Cheers
Peter.

Well noticed there Turtle, I do wrap my cork grips with tennis raquet grips. It absorbs the sweat and also makes the grip bigger and easier for me to hold. I think the brand is Babolat. I swear by it, but each to their own I surpose.

2Rods has it right, metho and a cloth works wonders as it takes of all the ground in sweat, oils, sunscreen, slime ect. They come up like new again.
