Tag wound

Post by Faulksy »

One of the Sailfish that we caught yesterday had been tagged previously and I was surprised to see that the fish had quite a nasty wound around the tag attachment. I have spoken to the NSW DPI and was advised that the fish was caught and tagged 2 months ago in the same area.
The tag was in the fishes flank which the guy at the DPI suggested may have been part of the reason that the wound developed.

Possibly something tp keep in mind if you are tagging fish.

Billie tags are quite bulky really. Takes a pretty solid jab to get them in properly.

Nasty nasty. Thats why you need to know how to do it properly. No good in the guts. Tags are way too big for the small sails off dundee. Ben tags our fish in comps and i see how much effort he goes to to get it right. Its not a case of just hitting the fish willy nilly.
