Shoal Bay Boat Hire's Bob Morris has told North Australian Fish Finder the big barra were definitely on the bite now at the popular hotspot just east of Darwin.
"One boat got caught four to 98cm and then came back the next day and caught 92cm and 102cm fish, all on lures,'' he said.
"I thing they were fishing Hope Inlet but they were pretty quiet about where they caught them.
"There have also been good fishing coming out of the Little Howard River.
"We caught four on one tour last week, the biggest going 87cm.
"I did another tour on Wednesday and we caught a couple of barra and some really nice threadfin salmon on the dead neap tides - the salmon were solid fish of around 70cm.
"There are quite a few golden snapper in the creeks which you don't usually see here.
"There are some big prawns in the river, some about 7cm long - just throw the cast net into the creek holes at low tide.
"The Rock has started to go off with barramundi both day and night, and they are catching jewfish there as well.
"One crew caught some barra at The Rock at high tide by flicking lures at the eddies."
