1.00m shoal bay 4.9.10
My next door neighbour had some bad luck last fri with a tiny link in his carby breaking forcing him to leave his boat anchored out the front of Meckett overnight and walk back to the Buff ramp at low tide.
So I rang my mate to borrow his tinny and we thought, while we're at it, we'll wet a line and a few pots.
After towing him back to the ramp we flew over to shoal bay and couldn;t get into our regular crabbing haunt so went across to the smaller mouth of King to leave our pots and drop some livies in.
By the way, anyone noticed the young white breasted eagle that comes looking for baits when you're fishing there? Bit of a worry because it was trying to swoop our bait, so we ended up throwing a livie to it every time we re-cast. I know we're reinforcing a bad training behaviour, but we'd rather have done that than hooked it ourselves.
Nothing at all in the pots over about 1.5hrs.
A heap of powertails and rays/ shovels for the most of the time then right when we were about to leave BANG and a beautiful chromie left the water and had us all shaking at the knees.
Measured 1.00m exact on my neighbours brag mat when we got home (had to go round and thank him for the unplanned fishing trip!). Obviously its known as "Damo's fish", although these days we're starting to talk about "team efforts" when it comes to certain fishing events.
Yes we kept it. Rarely get out, rarely take a fish home, and made absolutely sure that none of it went to waste.

I saw that tinny anchored up on Saturday morning. Was wondering what the go was with that. Good effort getting that fish we struggled on the slow tide just a few salmon. Had some live mullet out too but just shows you got to be in the right place. Well done!
