I've seen flattie heads nailed to trees at lake Conjola that were bigger than shovel heads. Not saying that the one in the pic is as long as me (the angle gives it away) but still a nice fish.

an old mte from high school that i lost contact with when i moved to darwin, caught and landed a 10.2 kg flaty, weighed, photographed, released, made the paper, logan albert news i think, i will try to dig up the clipping, was cuaght drifting a big live mullet near the powerlines at the mouth of logan river.
the head looked like a backhoe bucket, dont see them that big very often.

Ok heres a bit of a weight /length comparison ,I took a bus load of oldies to Ballina t/day armed with tape measure this fish was 1.03 in length & 9.44 kg

Looks like the one that dusted me yesterday, I knew I was in trouble when it came by me and I could not spy my nilsmaster protruding from its gob. Are well least I got a look and what a blast in very small water

you know your in trouble when you cant spot the lure a ,Im looking foward to hopefully tangling with a big girl :fishing: as I hear they are getting about.

Saw a flatty caught at Nambucca Heads that was as long as a park bench well over 150cm. Old guy about 80 nailed it with a hand line. On break wall out side caravan park at mouth and walked it down to beach

standard council park bench we all would have sat on. MASSIVE
