Exmouth Spearing
This arvo decided to take the tender for a run down into the Exmouth Gulf as the boredom has definetly set in!
Headed about a mile from the leeds that are at the front of the marina and began jumping in and out on any bombie or ledge we came across.
Looking for crays we were very disappointed to find none!! The vis was great and were diving in around 15 foot. Saw some unreal coral and plenty of colourful fish........but still no crays.
We ventured another 2 miles East into the Gulf and came across a few nice bombies half submerged in around 13 ft of water, with some lovely overhangs...........Cray time we were thinking!!!
I was first in and dove down into a school of around 30 Jacks to 4 kg!!! Stuck the gidgy into a 4kg model to be blown and shaken off rather quickly!!! Quickly reloaded tha rubber and pushed around to the otherside of the bombie and smacked a 2kg model........which was remarkably easier to keep on the $15 IGA gidgy!! With that boated my mate and dive partner was yellin at me to give him a crack as after 3 non eventful hours was keen to unleash!!!
We quickly swapped the gear over and he was in!!! The bigger models had pushed into a hole in the middle so he stalked the school for a while then nailed another average one that decided to come and check out the prongs!!! FOOL!!
With that boated and time running out i convinced him it was my turn and quicklt re entered the water! Only to find that the jacks were all pushed into the hole and uncatchable! I didnt feel the urge to hurt them for no outcome!! With a througha look ova 4 crays to no avail, a missed shot at a 3kg tusky, and a couple of minutes of awe watching 4 huge mother inlaw cruising by it was time to get back to the boat before the sunset!!
Good fun in all as has been years (think it was 02 @ the wessels) since i have been diving so inspired me to get back into it once back in Darwin, and we already have the tender packed for another mission tomora arvo once the hydraulic lines are fixed!!!! Stay tuned........haha! Was gived some cray spots by our welder when i got back as well so might have some cray porn for yas tomoro.........
