Finniss r walkers fjord area

Post by goldfish »

Heard a bit of a rumour of a pigging track that goes into the upper finniss r area starting about 1km south of the crossing heading downstream all the way past the boat ramp (on the opposite side ) to a campsite down from the three way junction

It's supposed to be a good 25km each way and heads past a heap of swamps on the way down might head out next week and have a look

Gotta get out there.
This the best way to get to the start of it.

Head south of the finniss r crossing on the litchfield road then 1st turn right at the drum turn right at gate n head down thier fenceline keep goin un till you hit an open floodplain n track starts about on the left about 1km south of the walkers fjord crossing.

Be careful of big crocs too .
Heard they lost a good dog last trip.

Google maps pic of track start point

Go over the finniss on the park road then right onto road marked by a 44 gallon drum for hazard stn. drive till u see a fence then turn right and follow the boundary past the corner till u get onto the main flood plain
The track crosses through kruss ck in the first 100m if you can get through this crossing the rest of the track is a piece of cake.

You can even get around this creek if you want as its getting a bit chewed up these days

Boys from darwin topend bowhunters shot big sets of hooks there this year up to 31 pts in this section n one dogger lost a cracker bull buff in here too

Mostly Aboriginal owned and they don't like people going on their land, especially to hunt.

All that area is either privately owned or aboriginal land, no crown land through there whatsoever.
