Rod Building Bulk Blank Buy
Hi All,
Looking to buy a St. Croix SCV blank from The Rod Works in South Australia but postage is a killer. Is anyone interested in buying some blanks and splitting the shipping?

Re: Rod Building Bulk Blank Buy
Hi
His flat postage is also $15.
He's charging extra for handling. He tells u that up front in his shipping policy.
Rodworks used to be known as an expensive place to shop. Expensive but good quality mainly due to the work he put into value-adding on the product.
A lot of places (including USA) have cheaper goods but high postage. Mud Hole USA charges 25% of price as postage or a minimum charge of $20.
Smile sweetly and pay the postage. He's gotta make a living too.

I dont think Deepblack is worried about it just seeing if anyone else wants one to help out with postage etc.

Have you tried LJ custom rods, he sells them, or he can get them for you. I dont know how much though. You can get his number off his web site.
Give him a try and if no luck i'll be keen for a couple.

Re: Rod Building Bulk Blank Buy
I gave up. $30 more for a factory build on the same blank, not my ideal handle configuration ( I don't really like cork) but I can get it replaced under warranty and not have to worry about a rebuild. And people wonder why custom rod building is a dying art.... I brought the 7' 4-10lb Legend Elite today. Seems like a nice rod but time will tell.

Mate
Buying a blank and building one is always worth it (I've done it 13 times).
Even if it costs a little more.
U tend to look after it a little better 'cos u know just how much work went into it. Some self satisfaction in knowing that u can do it.
It also allows you to experiment with new materials.
Plus u get exactly what you want.
If u're simply after a rod have a look at American Legacy Fishing.
They have a used rod section where u'll find a large range. There u can find the rods that have been discontinued and u simply cannot buy anymore. I found a Loomis CBR 756 that I've been chasing for 3 years for $130 + $70 postage. $200 landed at my door in perfect nick.
