Pending record hoo on Laser Pro

Post by Matt Flynn »

HALCO PRESS RELEASE
******************

Following on from Tim Simpson’s fantastic 4Kg
world record Wahoo caught last year, news has
filtered back to the boys from Halco that yet another
world record is likely to have fallen victim to the
Laser Pro.
Captain Adrian Watt, skipper of the “Bite Me” and
his local crew put a couple of fortunate Aussie
anglers onto a sensational Wahoo bite recently out
of the Matava Resort located in Kadavu, Fiji.
Recently married, Mrs Fiona Stallard was
honeymooning with her new husband Mark when
the pair decided to try their luck with a day out on
the water with Adrian and his crew.
The couple had a fantastic time and caught plenty
of fish on the heavier line classes. After the initial
excitement had died down a little, Adrian suggested
a spot of light tackle fishing as the fish they had
been catching were well into the WR class.
Two Laser Pro 160DD lures were fed back on 3kg
line class outfits and soon after a double hook up
resulted.
Unfortunately it didn’t take long for Mark’s fish to be
sharked however Fiona was still attached and
working the rod as well as any seasoned angler.
Luckily for Fiona, the Wahoo made a big mistake
and stayed on or near the surface for the majority of
the fight.
Water pressure is a real issue with light tackle
angling especially in the ultra deep Fijian waters but
it allowed Adrian to position his Deep V 310 right
into the path of the Wahoo at every opportunity.
With ultra light tackle fishing things can go very
wrong at any stage of the fight and this one was no
exception. Several anxious moments were had as
the wahoo gave the crew a hard time on the leader
however the angler and crew managed to hold it all
together to record a sensational capture.
The fish later weighed 21kg back at the resort — an
awesome effort on 3kg and assuming the line
passes testing is likely to be a very difficult target
for any lady angler in the future to beat.
Congratulations Fiona, Mark, Adrian and Crew from
everyone at Halco.
