The symbols do have a place in certain contexts - for example ...

We broke down off Point Stuart in 35C heat and tried to wave down three boats but they ignored us :fubird:

You want my GPS mark for the Secret Lee Point Bommie? :fu:

More discerning people may choose not to use these symbols, and that's up to them.

I am not going to make the forum luke warm, but likewise, I will not allow further sledging such as this :fu: :fu: :fu: :fu: :fubird: :fubird:

Hopefully this will please almost everyone.

Apolot
great response to some complete and utter rubbish. Im with you all the way mate - keep up the good work.
I too release more fish than i keep - however if i do choose to keep ANY fish then that is my right within the current laws. I am all for an upper limit on the size of barra and we generally dont keep any fish above 90cm and have sent plenty of 80cm fish back to grow bigger too. I have been out of the loop for some 6 weeks and have found a fair bit of agro starting to creep in - i guess thats the price for free speech - evryone has a right to express their own opinion - however they have to accept that not everyone has to agree with them.

Good fishing

Well said Apolot, Im generally catch and release, but it is my right to keep a fish when I'm legally entitled to do so. I also think that people should use common sense when they use the emoticons and definitely not to put some one down.

Hundred thousand apologies

Post by apolot »

My sincere apologies Backlash.

I had been experimenting with different names for Back-Cast. I had wanted to use different names that rhymed with cast but thought better of it. I didn’t want to stoop to his level of insults.
Again I’m sorry for involving you in this farce it was a genuine lapse in concentration.

Cheers apolot

PS Have made corrections. Thanks for pointing that out.

Posts like that we have seen by Back-Cast are dissapointing to say the least.

Back-Cast find some manners. You'll need to work out how to communicate with tact and maturity.

Apolot,
well said and nice fish. out-cast is just stirring. Iam all for catch and release, in fact I have perfected the art of long range release recently. Seriously though I have seen alot of big girls killed over the years especially in Shoal bay and it would be good to see more poeple practicing catch and release.

"well done" there is nothing like a bit of rigorus debate on certain topics "SORRY" for hurting your feelings but don't you think you should get over it and get on with it

apology reply

Post by apolot »

Hey Back-Cast, I’d like to know what planet you’re from?

Certainly not one that demonstrated an ounce of decency, consideration and respect towards others.

There is quite a huge difference between a ‘…..bit of rigorous debate…..’ and the unsubstantiated accusations you wrote in this forum about me and my son. Let me try and educate you.

Rigorous debate is NOT about seeing how many insults and offensive gestures you can throw at an opponent, which is what you did. I found your earlier comments deliberately antagonistic and totally insensitive.

I might be wrong about this statement but I feel pretty confident, that the majority of other readers of this forum would have had similar feelings as I, if those comments were directed towards them.

If you want to get some attention or even desire to promote discussion on a topic, try asking thought provoking questions.

As for your apology, it had about as much sincerity as a cane toad poisoning a metre long barra that had just eaten it. So this is what I think of your apology. :fubird:

As for getting over it, I feel better now that I’ve been able to share my story with everyone and that you have egg all over your face.

How does it feel? :???:

Thanks

Andrew
