Top Stuff Harmsey!!

Good to see you've still got it mate! bl..dy amazing...

I think I'll have to give these huge billed fish a crack at some stage,
Especially if all you need is a GT330 and scorpion out the back...

Cheers!

Post by jasonmcc »

Harmsey, you were just hoping the Marlin was going to tow you back home. North gutter is a long way out with a fuel tank that size

Awesome fish, would love to catch one

Hi,

Well done on the capture. Your first Billfish is something you'll never forget.

My guess at size would be about 60Kg's. It's hard to tell for sure, as it depends on how tall the guys in the photo are. Measurements for weight calculation go off the Vee of the tail to the bottom jaw (not overall). I would guess that the guys are not over 185cm tall (sorry if you are over 200), so I'm thinking 60Kg's would be very close to the mark.

I noticed that the boat was out of gear when it was landed. Something to keep in mind next time (And I hope there are LOTS of next times), keep the boat in gear, as Billfish will swim next to the boat, making the whole experience a lot easier, and cutting down on fight times dramatically.

Catch ya,
Tam

Oh yeh,

And the guy without the shirt on the photo... I bet he had a quite saw and itchy chest/stomach, as the slime on billfish is acidic! God’s antifouling for fish is not so good if you get it on yourself!

Regards,

Tam
