Go west young man..... part 3 of a trilogy

Post by 2rods »

Well about 8 months ago I had the second lot of great friends move to WA...and I told them look out I WILL come and see you some time..... :)
So after a few changes in travel planes ect on Friday I jumped on a plane and came to Karratha ....... I got picked up at the airport by Pete (faulksy) and a bit later in the day dodgy was here too all the way from headland...oh and also the boss of the house meterclubwantabe....LOL

We planed a few day out wide chasing fish with sticks on there heads.......billfish.... and maybe a bottom bash...

well here is how it went

Day 1....

I got SFA as did dodgy (I was in his boat) ...Pete and aylissa got wahoo and a sailfish

Day 2...heehhe Maybe I will just post the pics....
here is my first targeted sail fish

Image
up up and away
Image
and down again
but hang on these buggers just jump and jump and jump
Image
But in the end I won...not my first sail but my best by far.....
Image
Oh just check this out...was I happy ?? you bet your nuts I was...LOL
Image
Have a look at the sail on this fish...bigger than my head...LOL
Image
Image
a bill fish in the hand...arr I was happy
Image
MORE all good here ...LOL
Image
So there is day 2......Thanks dodgy......not only did ya drive down to say hello but ya towed ya boat and gave me a seat......THANKYOU... :applause: :applause:

NOW day 3........
Well dodgy went to work.....ahhhaahh and pete and I went fishing....the weather was awesome.....and so was the fishing..

We started the day with a first for me a WAHOO of around 18kg....on a pusher on the twinpower/T-curve kingmac combo....now I have never caught 1 before and all I can say is HELL they are fast.....they are like a mac on roids.......have a look see.. :captain:

arrrr I love these fish...now

DAY 3 ..cont.

We had the wahoo early...and I was happy with what ever poped up next.......actually I was VERY happy

15mins after we dropped our baits we had 1 smallish Black marlin slam Pete's bait...only to drop it 5seconds later....... then it took mine and dropped it too....BUGGER... but we got to see it :D :D

That was followed an hour or so later with a sailfish of 25kg or so....by me
Image
and just 1 more
Image
we didn't take this one out as it is better for the fish and I now have a pic with one in my arms and that is enough. 8)

Then pete landed 1 too...... and it was a happy boat I can tell you ...(pic's to follow)
Then we both had a hook up......it started out with a WTF who has this fish and then went to...pluck me we both have 1...and soon ended in man tears from me... mine jumped off and pete's stayed on the hook.... (well done mate)...

Then I after pete let his go I was on again ....it jumped and the spat the hook......now normally I would be p...ed off but you know what I wasn't... because all around me boats were on.... 5 sailfish in a 200sqm area... people were yelling and going off... so we sat and watched it all unfold and relished the sight.... you know we might never see that again... but at least we we got to see it once and everyone landed there fish to... :applause: :applause:

at the end of the day we must have seen 15-20 fish landed and we and others hooked and lost more.......it was like a NATGEO doco but for fishos.........I am already looking at the tides for next year 8)

But for now I have to say thanks to Pete, Aylissa, dodgy and my wife..... I have had the fishing trip of a lifetime and enjoyed every minute....great fishing...great friends and a great time.....I am on a fishing high like no other...and there is more to come.. 8) 8) 8)

Hi 2rods,

I bet that your happy...
WhenI saw you at the Ski Club a bit before you went there, you said that you were wondering what the weather would be like...
Well it seems that it was pretty good.

And just wait for DoubleHaul to see the pics and he will be jumping up and down in front of his computer asking himself what he is doing in Darwin!

Congratulation and thanks for the report with all the pics.

Have a good day,
