Another Bill off the back
The boys managed to hook this suprising 14kg saily from Groote to Gove in 30knot 2.5m sea NW's . Trusty Halco trembler got the hook up , its now the second bill ive seen caught off the back of the barge after 4 years with perkins. Length overall was 2.1m, unforunetly it died from being dragged , second engineer claimed it and was very happy , he threw it in a empty refrigiratered container to get taxiderm and sit next to his already taxidermed 1.3m barra at home. lucky pr..k

This will no doubt raise a few eyebrow but YES Sailfish are very good when smoked. Actually I'll put it as the best smoked fish I've eaten.
In Exmouth, if a fish was kept during a tournament it was given to one of the local shops who would smoke the fish and offer it at the weigh-ins and presentation. This way everyone knew that NO fish would be wasted even if weighed in. This also made it acceptable to take a dead fish back rather than just release a dead fish with a tag in and call it for a tag fish. The "We would prefer that sharks didn't eating something that should be enjoyed by all anglers" attitude worked very well. Not sure if it still happens but it was a very good initiative by the Exmouth Gamefighing Club.
Billfish and Barra... is there anything else???
