Post Posted: Tue Jun 05, 2018 9:38 am    Post subject: milkfish spot

good morning everyone,
I have been told that we could get milkfish in between fish feeding and the defence, so I went this morning.
I couldn't find anywhere to go down, am I stupid or we just can't anymore?
So i'm after any spot around Darwin where i'll be able to finally get some milkfish for a bit of fun.
thanks

You are fishing landbased? Much easier fishing that area if you can get hold of a tinny. There is a large no-fishing zone.

Right up against the fence itself is one of the ''tracks'' down the cliff.
(you definitely dont want to be an ol fat fella for this bit ...beause you almost need abseiling gear to get down a rope to lower your backpack and rod helps too )

there also used to be one further back along the main face 1/2way to the limit sign with a rope years ago...

Good luck .

few other species there if you want to try for them aswell. ... Big pelagics on whole herring fish baits there and live mullet will pull the odd barra in too.

Try the wharf..you'll need about 10 loaves of bread however to bring the milk fish out.

Doctors Gulley..go left from the carpark till the sign or just past the tree thats out to sea...5-10 loaves burly up on incoming tide, 4,0 hook vaseline on your leader to help it float or just walk out to waist height...pick your fish (over a meter)...feed it your hook...hold the hell on!..oh and don't forget your hat as you will be there for 45 mins fighting it. good luck.

Dunno what gear you're using andy but i jagged 2 on 5/0 suicides ripped through a school of em years back ......

Hooked 1 in the top fin and another one in the tail at wonga ck (gove area ) and landed them in under 5 min on a 200B curado on 20lb fireline p..s easy....... the 1st run nearly emptied it though.

Everyone makes out theyre a cross between a sherman tank and ferrari but they are not that bad they fight clean and are pretty easily tamed if you're gear is half decent and your drag is tight.
