Hi all, went for a fish this arvo down at east point near the war museum. Conditions were the best I've seen them in a while, flat, clear water and a light breeze. My mate ended up getting a few little reefies (stripy snapper and bluebone) as well as getting busted off by a big blackspot tuskie :applause: . He got some of them on unweighted pilchard, others on the bottom. I tried using unweighted pilchard in hope of a monster mackeral, but all the reefies got there first (as if i was ever going to get a big mackeral :D ). Eventually after spinning for a bit, i picked up a little queenie around the 45 mark, although it looks tiny in the photo. Hopefully good signs of what is to come.
I was using a 35gram samaki torpedo slice.

1st up top stuff young fella, good effort and thanks for posting.

Any other favorite spin metals or stickbaits mate.? I ran raiders a few times but not much sucessful efforts out there, might have been too big though I think they were around 80 or 100g ... My friends just getting started having a flick with his kid out there. They also got peeled and busted off on the bottom running squid tubes with pillie centres while getting a few smaller tuskies too. 30cm min size on any species out there or $10K fines i think.

Seen a few good trevs and a couple of nice spanish mackerel caught there over the years though so keep on casting.

Yeah i prefer these samaki ones, gillies baitfish and halco twisties. The raiders are a bit big in profile for me anyway, even in the small sizes. Mostly use 10-40 gram metals. Next time might bring the 3000 for some fun.
