Walkers fjord : directions

Post by goldfish »

Headed out on the weekend to a spot on the finiss r known as walkers fjord
Last year we got fish to 115cm
This trip the water was still a bit low we got 4 up to 96

Where is walkers fjord i hear u ask well this is the easiest way to get to it theres at least 2 other ways in the 4wd but this is by far the quickest.

Directions:
Head out past berry springs n turn left onto the Litchfield park road

Cross the finiss r at townsend bridge and head about 5km until you see a dirt road marked with a 44 gallon drum turn right onto this it heads to hazard station its a gazetted road and they can't stop you driving it

You'll see a fence post about 10min in turn right here and follow the track out along thier boundary this will bring you across 2 good sized floodplains and goes to the river.

About a km before the river theres a 4wd track heading west through a small creek if you made it across this the rest of it is a pretty easy drive.

This track takes you past a few swamps and gives access to the feeder creeks a few hundred metres below the fjord. Take a good gps n use your gps to take any shortcuts we didn't make a 4wd track in to the mouths of these cks but u might find the quad track we used.

On the way out we saw a ripper of a boar with tusks up over its snout standing in the middle of the spotties on the track. no gun or dogs though so we let him be .....til next trip

It's official too wet now until next year hopefully around april.

Didn't get bogged once... go the sick muddies n 6 inch lift no way a stock vehicle would get near it now the track was flowing as part of kruss creek
Saw why we get crocs way up on the flat the feeder creeks were a metre over the bank n 150m wide in some areas and it will get deeper over the next couple of months.
