Casino Creek

Post by craigrachow »

went down to casino creek this morning just at the peek of the high. was plenty of gar but no mullet bar the few foot long lone rangers. occasional boof's and scared stiff gar jumps. i didnt have much luck but a fella using live gar at the mouth landed a nice 40cmish blue salmon and got hooked up on a 2nd but dont know what happened.

looking forward to going down on tomorrows high or sundays also.

Funny you should mention Casino Creek as I've only recently checked it out myself. Been down a couple of times over the last week to have a look around, definitely plenty of gar getting around down there. I'm gonna give it a go tomorrow morning, flicking lures and SP's up until high tide, just look for the bright yellow car  .

in my opinion the first few hours after high tide is the best asw the creek drains out.

Spotted a heap of reasonable sized gars around the foot bridge at rapid creek on Saturday morning, big schools of them to.

Are longtoms no good for bills?

It's longtom city down Fort Hill wharf under the lights of an evening - but you either need to be a wharfy, or a terrorist to get in.

cheers

One of the schools I saw definitely wasn't long toms, they were close to the bank so I got a good look at them. The other huge school I saw were all around the 6 inch mark, holding steady in the current just under the surface pushed in close to the bank, judging by how they were acting Im thinking gar. Didnt go down for a closer look though as I was crossing the bridge.
