Loomis Rods

Post by Spook »

Neil and I (with attendant family) went to Hawaii a week of two ago, not fishing, just a break. I saw this parked on the side as we were going somewhere. I couldn't resist the temptation to take a photo.
I know that Loomis rods are expensive, (and in my book over rated to buggery. I still catch as many fish as Loomis owners with my trusty Bransfords Tropical 8) Anyway back to the topic.
Are they so esxpensive that they need the services of an armoured car to deliver them?

Over rated? I got my first GL2 from George FOWorld. For $200, it is now 8 years old. I've bought two others since then and all still going strong. When I first bought them I put them in their bags in the rod tube, for the last few years they just get chucked in the boat or the back of the cruiser.

Flick all day with a heavy, cheap rod as compaired to a lite, Loomis and then tell me they're over rated. You may catch as many fish but your arms will tell the story.

Definitely over rated in my opinion for the price.

The short gl2 cr 665 was a great rod growing up. I mistreated mine for 12 years and it never missed a beat. It was stiff as a broom but in the day were made to last.

The crankbait range is still one of my favourite barra rod.

Never let the truth get in the way of a good story ( like all my fishing expeditions).
