Where did ya catch that mate??? I caught one off a wharf in Tasmania when I was a kid. Bit of a fluke because I'm told they like the deeper water. Was good to eat though, a welcome change from the grubby Mullet we had been catching and eating.

I caught it off the wharf in NZ. They are a deep water fish but they come in shallow during summer to feed on bait fish. i just head down throw out a livie or three and wait. Its pretty cool watching them stalk and ambush your bait from above.
Cheers

there a funny fish. Used to fish for them in sydney harbour when i was a kid. We would cut the tail fin off the yakkas so the JD had no trouble catching them. cheers
