Post a little about who you are...

Post by jasonmcc »

Hi everyone

Just thought it might be a good idea for everyone to post a bit of info about yourself so everyone doesnt seem like strangers.

My name is Jason and I am 24. I have lived here in Darwin's rural area my whole life. I have been into fishing since a very young age. I have grown up in the bush, fishing, camping, shooting, exploring etc. I am employed as a Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer which I have been doing for nearly 8 years.

Well thats enough about me....

Your turn.

Cheers

Jason

about me

Thats what the bbq was for...

Jon 27, nothing dodgy about me at all
Only been in Darwin 2 years or so. Grew up in Carnarvon and Geraldton in WA. Been into fishing and diving since I could walk. From about 12 I was reading every fishing mag I could lay my hands on. South Alligator, Daly rivers seemed like a world away, and black jews as well. Fished and dived all up the west coast and finally made it up to the NT. Living the dream now.. 8-)

This is a good idea for those that didn't get to the BBQ the other day.

Name's Glenn but most people know me as Free (Moon Love Child - long story). I maintain the RADAR on the airport. 28yrs old, married with an 8mth old Son. Born in Darwin, grew up in Broome hense the obsession with fishing.

I'm more a Bluewater fisho but I bought myself a Hornet to concentrate a little more on the Barra. Bluewater boy trapped on a Barra Punt..... I couldn't fit a bigger boat at my place anyway.

I know a few people on the FFF. I think this thing is great. :lolpoint:

but rather to skid in sideways, Whopper in one hand, Beer in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming WOO HOO what a ride!!!

35year old, Married to a great scout and lived in Darwin for 3 years having grown up on the mid-north coast of NSW chasing flatties and bream.

Work in the govt, and studying at uni which takes up too much of my fishing time.

Name is actually Darren Hill (Hilly), but have used the moniker Kevin Kevinson as I love the classic names, Kev, Trev etc and it is the central character of a book I wrote with my brother.

might have to give away a couple of copies at the next BBQ, or for some barrabucks prizes or something...if you are interested Matt, send me a PM.

My turn. 26 years old,Ben Jones. Born in Melbourne,Stkilda tragic fan. Lived at Warrnambool for 4 years doing a fisheries management and aquaculture degree, but basically all we did was drink, play golf and go fishing every day down there! Couldn't get a job with it in Melbourne, and was getting sick of the traffic, and wanted to get away from going out every weekend and being hungover all week,so last year in March decided to move up here for the fishing. It's been great, very tough at times, but an adventure. Unsure when /if I will go back.
Currently work at Berrimah picking orders, driving forkilifts, not rocket science, but it's pretty easy and casual up here

Dick Pasfield, age 49 been married for 20 plus years with two sons 18 and 14. Lived in Kununurra for 16 years the last five I've worked as a land care coordinator for a community group. Previous to that was a grower on the Ord and a place called Dongara for 20 years.

Follow the NRL (was from Sydney originally) currently hate the Broncos for knocking my team out for the year the other night.

A bit sports mad (as in playing) doing some sport at least 3 -4 times a week, a bit tough keeping up with kids the age of my sons but give em heaps when I can keep up (old age and treachery almost always wins over youth and inexperiance  )

Try to fish once a week but more like three times a month, even if its only for an hour or two. Love the weekends away and not see another soul.
Regards Dick

My names Shaun and have loved fishing ever since I was a six year old and my pop took me fishing and I caught my first fish a Gurnard off the Ulverstone wharf. I'm a boilermaker and work at the Tanami mine I have limited internet access down there but try and get a peek on this great forum to see whats happening whenever I can. I've been in Darwin for three and a half years and love it. I also like A.F.L most sports really, xxxx gold, cougar and coke, and horse racing. I'm 27 have three kids 2 boys and a girl who all love fishing too, Jack is only 6 months old so this might be news to him but its true  I'm waiting for my new Xtreme side console to be fabricated about another four more days I'm told but I won't be holding my breath. I've named my boat Mangrove Jack named it after my son Jack. So if you see us on the water or at the boat ramp come over and say G'day.

The name's Scotty. I'm 32 . . . . . have been sentenced to marriage for life with 3 children. But seriously, been married for 11 years, and have 2 boys aged 7 and 8 (both love fishin') and a daughter aged 4. I'm an Electronics Technician who's undeniably addicted to fishing. Got my arse kicked on honeymoon in Cairns for sneakin' out at 3:30am (every morning) to go fishing and attempting to slip back into bed before the minister for fun and finance woke up!! :naughty: :naughty:

Grew up on the Murray river in South Oz, where the old man discovered when I was 2 that the only way he could shut me up for more than 2 minutes was to take me fishing. Have had no other purpose in life ever since. (Don't tell the missus I said that :lipsrsealed: ) Also into bow-hunting, shooting and bourbon.

Currently live in Sydney but am moving to Darwin next month. Very much lookin' forward to living the life you blokes talk about and hope to meet many of you in the very near future.

Cheers,
Scotty
