Want to take my 3yo out and keep her keen

Post by HI4CE »

Looking for a spot to take my 3yo girl out in a 4.7m not to far with heaps of small fish and bites. She’s been asking because she hasn’t been out since run off catching rats.
Thanks guys.

Your best bet would be in close from East Point to Lee Point. Anywhere from Lee Point back to Darwin Hospital being the better option. Lots of reef and rock but safe if traveling slow and easy anchor in water to 5 metres.

Also near the old iron ore wharf and at Emery Point on the naval base side. Small hooks close to the bottom and you will find lots of small red fish and trout / cod variants.

Thanks Jedi season I’ll give it a go. What size hooks 3/0? And about 2.5m run?

Some good rough bottom off Larrakeyah towards Emery Point, chance of some good fish too.

Not sure about hook sizes, about a finger tip sized hook should be okay.

Small hooks made from heavy gauge wire are the go, that way you'll get your pickers but hold the jewies, there are such hooks about, unfortunately I forget the name and brand I had in the boat.

Plenty of small stuff off Larrakeyah but it is fairly deep, turn of tide fishing.
