Vic River tips

Post by scottmac »

G’day all,
I’m thinking of heading somewhere different this runoff. Never fished the Vic and it’s had a good drench.
I’ve heard it’s Johnny on the spot, as it runs off quick.
Just wondering where/when to start?
I’ll be doing a late season trolling trip in late April/May, but wouldn’t mind shooting down for a go at some runoff flicking before hand.
Any tips most appreciated, PM me if you don’t want to give away too much.
Cheers and beers, Scotty!🍻🍻🍻👍👍👍

'Football Creek' was always the place to be during the wet season run-off.

The fellas at Katherine Rod and Rifle fish the Vic a lot and would be the ones to ask.

I wrote a fairly comprehensive report tp travel down the river on this forum around 2006 - 2009 from memory, not sure if it can be found?

I fished it lots when I lived in Katherine. The run-off is short however there are some good spots. Little & big horse creek are probably the best when the river is high. Further down there is "lookback" creek, "football", "twin creeks" & if you wish to travel down as far as the Baines, Alpha & Sandy creek down there are great. Mouth of Angalarri is also good.

I do miss fishing out there & now my brothere has left Timber creek, I haven't been there for ages.
Insanity is a good place to hide from reality!

It is not how long the fish is but how long you have fished & how long you've wished.......
