A CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) analysis would have identified that in the design process, but the fees, which would have cost $10,000, most likely were considered too expensive.scottmac wrote:Yeah, looks like it. Re: Dundee boat ramp
Got an email back from Tristan Sloan.
He believes that the channel below the low tide mark still needs to be dredged.
Anyone else have any more info on this or when it will get done?

Its pretty good. I was there last week. Got to the concrete on a 1.9 low with about a meter of water. The worst part will be the congestion of picking up your decky after they park the car in the sheltered water with any more than two other boats trying to do the same thing.

Can we get a live cam set up to watch the madness on the first few weekends? Almost worth the drive out just to pull out a camp chair and crack open a beer and observe proceedings...

Re: Dundee boat ramp
We were there on Saturday and went down for a look at the ramp. Looks ok for now but they need to paint a centre line down the middle so people are aware it's a dual lane ramp. I can see it turn to poop when people que to launch as it fairly tight.
I have a 6 m boat and there a lot of bigger boats who uses Dundee so it a bitch to jump in your boat from the front or the sides without a pontoon.
There not a lot of parking but I heard if you use the tractor service you can park in the lodge car park. If the tractor is available I will be using their service.

Re: Dundee boat ramp
spoke with dept of infrastructure and they said that it will NOT be open this weekend as there is still a lot of work to be done on the approaches etc
. he said that it cant be opened until the contractors pack up and hand it over.
definitely before xmas but may be next week
they will issue a media release so don't plan anything til then
I want to set up cameras to watch the carnage and see people trying to back the trailers down -

Re: Dundee boat ramp
Can't wait till see some videos posted of it in use on day with a bit of swell. It is a great thing for flat top banks though. Launch yourself at midnight after the sea breeze dies off. Arrive out there at a similar time to if you launched last tractor and belted into it for the first 60 km. I would probably receive in the same principal if the boat is big. Stay away from the afternoon carnage

Re: Dundee boat ramp
Being able to launch and retreive outside of the current tractor hours is the big one for me.

Re: Dundee boat ramp
I am told it has sediment on it already and tractors are being used again. Comments?
