Corroboree tips

Post by gusbus »

Hey everyone,

Headin out to corroboree over the weekend and wouldn't mind some tips. Planning to do a bit of trolling and maybe throwing some weedless plastics in lily pads? From down south so any tips like some good areas or fav lures would be much appreciated.

Cheers.

Reidy's Little Lucifers in Green and trolled a fair way back. Look for the ribbon weed and troll along its edge. Form what I've heard the fishing is better down Powertail island end. You can catch barra down to the left past the houseboats if you are just feeling your way in Corroboree.

Slow quiet approach to the lilies has worked well for me, then lob in a wheedles plastic(drop bear colour) or frog cast deeeeeeeep into the lilies.

Be aware that lots of back water will mean that the fish can be out of range. So lilies onto a bank are a good one.

same as Dex, little lucifers trolling past weed and snags.
had success with both pink and green about a month back.

tried weedless in the lillies early in the morning and got a small toga but had more success with the little lucifers

If you dont know the Bong dont troll unless you know what to look for and how to do it. You might get lucky and catch one but casting white z man frogs rigged weedless with a 5/0 jungle hook into the lillies and bringing them out on a constant retrieve is the go. (not the popper ones they suck) Also in the early morning look for shallow weed banks and throw your frogs over those you will be surprised how many fish are in spots like that.

Good advice - don't go near the place on the 14th and 15th, unless you want to be harrassed by hordes of loud, pushy, determined women all trying to bag some barras for the SWB competition (oh and Hardies is included too!)
Thank heavens I moved to the Territory, everything I love is here!
