Can you help a Southerner?

Going this weekend? Planning a tour? Need info? A fishing partner? Just ask ...

do you access the Finniss by the mouth at Dundee or elsewhere? If the mouth, can you go through there at low tide or do you have to time your run with the high tide?

Thanks

ok so here is what we are thinking.....I reckon we'll have about 11 days of fishing for our trip.

2 days at Dundee Beach
1 day at Bynoe Harbor
1 day Finniss
3 days Daly
1 day Shady camp
1 day Coroboree
2 days South Aligator

What do you think of the above? Any areas we should drop or any that we should shorten or lengthen? Any areas that are worth including that i haven't put up?

Finally, during out trip we will have both Neap and Spring tides. Are all of teh above systems subject to tidal influence? If so, which ones are more critical and which ones are less critical as far as fishing is concerned?

For example, are we better off bottom bouncing at Dundee and Bynoe during neaps and saving the spring tides for Daly and South Aligator??

Your thoughts and comments are greatly appreciated.

Thanks / Jason

Hi Jasbags

Dundee & the Finniss can be done same day. To get to the Finniss you put in at Dundee. When Fishing with Geoff, a typical day is fish the out going in the Finniss & creeks until low. Head out to Jenny Point casting/trolling for barra on the incomming Thats on the way to going outside, then head out to chase macks/tuna or bottom bounce (Sail City), then come in and chase jewies close to Dundee. Thats all done in a 10 hour day. Morning chase barra, luch at Jenny rocks, arvo out wide, then relax with a beer :drinking2: soaking a bait (jewies) within a few k's of the ramp. God I miss not making the trip this year

Not wanting to come over too negative but you might find a few of those destinations a long haul for a short stay. NT rivers take a while to figure out and even for guys that know the area it can take a while to find where the fish are holding.
It might pay to spend a bit more time at spots like the Daly and Dundee/Finiss areas and work out whats happening over a few days.
I would choose bigger tides for Dundee and Neaps/ building tides for the Daly.

I have fished all areas you have planned to visit on your last list and would definately not consider a trip like that myself unless it was to be a sight seeing trip.

ok take your points regarding too many destinations.

We are after some sight-seeing to some degree as two of my fellow fishos have never been to NT before.

Ok so i have narrowed it down to this.

2 days at Dundee Beach
4 days Daly
1 day Coroboree
4 days South Aligator

What do you guys think of the above?

I have never been to South Aligator before so not too sure what to expect. What tides would be best here neap or spring?

Thanks

Instead of Corroboree, why don't you do Yellow waters instead? I prefer it over corroboree, more scenic, easier to fish, and you can do a day trip from Aurora on the South instead of packing up camp and going to Corroboree. Put in at the back of the resort at Cooinda and fish home Billabong, then travel through the little everglade like section through the bush and down and out into Yellow waters. One of the best spots in the NT I reckon. Bit of site-seeing to do on the way there too,Nourlangie rock is a good spot to take the tourists

Souths tides are debateable, would of once said the springs, but maybe neapier is better on the rockbars. Unsure what worked there this year,a few on here will give you some hints...
