Re: Portable fridges
On the subject.... If anyone is a fridgy.... I've got a trailblazer sittin in my shed it's not working for reasons unknown....mate of a mate left it my shed ..... If I had another fridge to compare it to I'd be half way there ..... I'm willing to let it go for $50 so I can put a box in my engel. It's just gathering cobwebs ....
Sale is AS IS though... Let me know if anyone is interested via text 044729988.and I'll send through a couple of pics.
Cheers, Russ

Re: Portable fridges
I've had a couple over the years.
By far the best I've had is the autofridge by evakool
When doing 4x4 tours 20 years ago, just about everyone had an Engel.
On one trip to Cape York, 3 Engels died
I gave my Engel to my broinlaw and he is still using it. But he only uses it for a couple of months every year
My autofridge went non stop for over 20 years. It was my only fridge for 6 years
The Engels have improved lately with their systems but I would but another autofridge in a heartbeat

Re: Portable fridges
I have had my 39L Engel since 1993. It has lived it's life loose in the back of a Troopy and Hilux.....never comes out. No paint left on it (dog likes to stand on it). Can't kill it.

Mate just picked up a Glacio by au sung or something. 70L two separate compare compartments for fridge and freezer. Looks like good build quality only draws 3.5 amp at full power. It's still a china copy job but at 450 delivered from Melbourne with 2 year warranty, still a good deal.

Re: Portable fridges
They must be a fairly new product. Hard to find any info or reviews on them. May be worth a punt at that price with a two year warranty, but knowing my luck I would be on day one of a five day remote trip when it sh!t itselfHally10 wrote:Mate just picked up a Glacio by au sung or something. 70L two separate compare compartments for fridge and freezer. Re: Portable fridges
Just did a week trip with it and did really well. Only has a 55ah battery so went flat and needed a charge halfway through but it's pretty good. Separate freezer and fridge compartments with separate temp controls. Had the freezer at -13 at one point. Metal construction. She's pretty bulky and the compressor isn't as quiet as my weaco. Still for the money reckon its a it of a deal
