You have proved the point I was trying to make precisely! See, you don't have to be gay to fly a rainbow flag. The use of rainbow flags has a long tradition; they are displayed in many cultures around the world as a sign of diversity and inclusiveness, of hope and of yearning (source Wikipedia).AJay wrote:Actually no, If flying the aussie flag makes you racist, then flying the poofter flag means you discriminate against straight people. It is a display of pride, not a protest.Queasy wrote:You're as racist flying an aussie flag as you are gay by flying a rainbow flag.
It's all about perceptions. You instantly perceive someone carrying a rainbow flag to be a 'poofter', which may or may not true, and many will perceive people carrying an aussie flag to be racists, which may or may not be true. Some will be, some won't be.
Simply carrying an aussie flag doesn't change you into a racist any more than carrying a rainbow flag makes you gay.
