Darwin's latest power price rises are ...

Post by tikety »

Just checked my bill in Vic tariffs near enough to same and rising, air con not issue but gas for heating also climbing, lot of blokes from work gone solar and found bill dropped to near bugger all pay back period about 5 years. Is solar pushed heavy in nt?

I have solar and it is cr.p. From what I found the NT buys the power from you at by far the lowest price in Australia almost half as much a some states. With the power savings you really never pay off the cost of the initial outlay. At least this was the case. I'll redo the maths with next year's rates and see if it is the same.

I would dearly love to pay increased power charges, but that is not an option on my remote island. For those who think running a generator is cheaper, stop kidding yourself. Yes, increase may be enough to cover cost of new "genny" every quarter, but the fuel ain't free, FAR FROM IT.
Cheers Kai.

i can see is more local price inflation, for pretty much everything and definetly alot more financial pain for everyone. Bring on some zone rebates for all harsh climate area's in Australia.

Check this, a 33% jump in Vic electricity disconnections, and 50% in gas disconnections ... http://www.news.com.au/breaking-news/na ... 6534026567

Same in SA ... http://bundl.com.au/news/rising-trend-i ... kes-in-sa/

And in Qld ... http://www.qcoss.org.au/queensland-elec ... ecord-high

These are huge figures, seems very odd ...
