Thats what I was saying , it comes under government jurisdiction so the cops act using the principle that ignorance of the law is no excuse as it was probably gazetted.......they just write you up and pass it onto the relevant authorities.
Whereas state or Territory cops have no concerns about tracks in National Parks ( its a Federal jurisdiction ) or private property. Those roads into Kakadu bush areas can open anytime and without warning. They can be listed on their website as still being closed up to at least 12 hours after they have been open. So to be driving past and see the gate open and the signs down is nothing out of the ordinary even though you were informed it was closed the day before. That is why it is pointless for them to go ahead and try to prosecute.
Having said all this I wouldn't be playing any games out there this weekend, word is that they are p- - ed off and keeping an eye out. I rang this morning and wasn't well recieved.......yes it is still closed and looks being so for awhile
