Yeah I think those fish symbols on sounders are just drawn on in the factory......there should be a function on gps maps to show simple pics whereever you caught a fish.....

Funny stuff Mud great story. That place is pretty scary if you are there by yourself. I went across that weir in a mountain bike race, never been so focused on not falling off in my life.

Yep tell me about it.

In 2011 I had hired a houseboat on corroboree but there was a late wet. I had interstate mates up so we decided to go to Katherine for the weekend. A local Cop suggested we go to Donkey Camp for a fish. When we arrived, this is what we saw:

So I walked out shin deep to fish for a few hours. We fished that arvo and the next morning. I got a bunch of nice small barra. But there was something scary about the spot. The weir wall is narrow. About a foot and a bit wide. The water was pumping over it and really trying to push us off. The Weir is long so that when you are in the middle it would take a good 3 minutes or so to get back when the water is pumping. The upsteam side is creepy looking. The water seemed still and deep and could hide a big croc under it.

Here is a pic from looking back from half way along the weir:

Anyway a couple of days later we see this in the paper, It was caught the day after we were there I believe.

Donkey Camp is a great little spot, good for killing an hour or so.
I've heard of some really unexpected sized fish coming from that weir, goes to show that you shouldn't discount a spot purely on it's looks or it's location from town.
Everyone should give it a crack, to experience it...just remember to shuffle fast past those first few pandanis palms.

For sale. One slightly used zerek prawn. Reluctant sale...previous owner unable to continue fishing as he has decided to be a smartarse instead.
(I'll drop it off along with the minnow but not before I catch a metery on it tomorrow at carmour)

Mud it's not that bad. Have been out there for a good 5 hours or more (few too many ales). It's even scarier walking it at dusk/night after watching a bird disappear on the water.

Also there is a great swim spot about 50m downstream of the weir.
I can count to potato!

Keep on keeping on.

Great little spot, used to visit it a lot when lived down there, the little pool downstream was great for getting a few fish from. Especially where the water flowed in.

Had the shite scared out of me one evening walking back accross the wall, lazily throwing a popper upstream, not taking any notice of anything when the lure got slammed right near my feet  and screamed off, after going back and forth accross the wall managed to subdue it, a nice 5kg power tail, the strike near my feet definitely woke me up :)
If there is water and it holds fish, then it is fun trying to fool them into eating what you offer!!

Especially when you can see them!

Great spot Donkey camp. I used to fish it a lot and you could catch 30 odd small Barra (odd bigger one) in a couple of hours
I never did feel comfortable with my back to the deep side, I never stayed in the same spot too long.

I found the King river junction better.
Insanity is a good place to hide from reality!

It is not how long the fish is but how long you have fished & how long you've wished.......

Did you see today's paper Mud?

On a positive note, its only 2.7m. That's only just bigger than wrestling size.
