Adelaide River report - 18 Feb
Hi all,
I took Ziggy out on the Adelaide on the last springs, to knock the cobwebs out of the boat before we do any serious fishing trips.
Unfortunately the river was on the rise, so our expectations were low - which was just as well, as it was not fishing yet and we caught nothing!
It was low tide when we launched, so we zoomed down to Scotts Creek for a look. There was one boat working the mouth, but little action around, and given the other boat with us had a very high profile, I was keen to get us back upstream before the tide came in and trapped them downstream of the bridge.
We had a look up Marrakai, but the floodplains were full of water and there was little consolidated bait and few colour changes.
Snuck up Little Marrakai, but same again.
We headed up as far as Last Cast, which looked the goods, but there were no fish playing the game.
By lunchtime we called it quits and headed back to the ramp, but which time the tide was in, and the car park was getting a soaking.
so now we just need the rivers to drop and the wind to stay away - come-on the runoff!
cheers

We were out there last Saturday. Went up past goat island and down to Scott's. Last cast and Donaldson had godo colour. Deckie dropped a fish in the 60s at last cast. And other Deckie got a 63cm on a feeder pumping out fresh on the way to Scott's. That was it all day

Last 3 sessions on the Adelaide 6+ fish every session, all upstream. Biggest 68 so nothing huge. Sounded up some good fish below the bridge so they're on the way up. Its been fishing well if you can think outside the square a bit and downsize your lures.
Good luck everyone.

Last Cast always looks good!
I was at Marrakai Creek mouth years ago during a run-off and a shoal of big fish was stacked along just off the main river bank from the bottom to near the surface. They weren't biting. Wondered if the were jewies, powertails, or barra?
