Here is a list of free and cheap early childhood games/activities that are either free or cheap, if you are taking the leap and getting a kid an iPad for Chrissy these are all educationally sound and will keep them busy for hours................

Social Stories/ Open Ended Apps
Puppet Pals Directors Cut - $2.99
Take pictures of the child and other students and turn them into puzzles. Also take photos of classroom and playground to create social stories teaching specific behaviours.

Art Maker – Free
Play School app great for creating social stories or animated picture books with the beloved Play School characters

Sock Puppets – Free
Cute app for making very short social stories

I Can Animate - $2.99
An animation program that is simple to use with young children to create their own stories

iMovie –
An app for editing animations made in I Can Animate or videos created using the record app built into the iPad. Music, narration and special effects can be added using this app.

Book creator - $2.99
A simple app for the children to create ebooks which they can share in ibook store on the iPad

thanks for that mate, not that I condone my kids playing on theres all the time, would rather them playing outside anytime, anything educational is welcome, esp on long trips in the car :mrgreen:

Yeh, know what you mean, a couple of local teachers put in a lot of work to come up with the list........at least it should be suitale !
