Used to use baseball caps ,but after trying the straw hat -theres no comparison. Keeps you cooler cos it breaths and keeps more sun off.

Now that is a fair point! same used to wear the old rabbit hat but just to hot dosent let the ol scull breath!!

Start out with a baseball cap then switch over to a columbia wide brim when the sun gets up. I'd be partial to a coonskin hat although they'd be not much chop for sun protection.

Biff,what im saying is how much sun does a baseball cap keep off your ears/neck but some think its all about the look but thats ok

personally I wear the Araphat type thingy you can velcro the front up & get no sun at all & they dont blow off very easy ( but my boats not fast).

i don't mind these mask jobbies with a trucker cap(mesh back baseball cap), plenty of air flow - better protection than the straw ones and you dont feel like you've got a toilet seat on your head.......

When I first came up to the NT I would always tell people where I was going fishing. On one occasion I told my mates that that I was going fishing at Peppimenati.

Their response was "Wear the FOX HAT"

So I went and bought one...haven't looked back since
