The signs at Dinah Beach boat ramp regarding mooring at the pontoons cannot be enforced - the have put there without any legal backing.

moored boats still a problem now, last week there were 4 boats moored there, couldn't use that side of the pontoon until around half tide and only room for 1 boat to be left while getting car, pain in arse for solo fishers.

Yeah, the pontoon needs the Tee extension, it is the best way to fix the moored boats "problem." The other thing that might work is installing a steep sandy beach in the corner near the break wall. But I think it would be better off making the "third" lane a bit more substantial.jeffish wrote:Wasn't there some talk on here by Tristan (AFANT) about Tee section being put

The fact that one ramp is seeing the lions share of the traffic is in itself an issue.
Nightcliff is problematic but it is the location that needs a major ramp to disperse traffic from Dinah.

Nightcliff is a great location and could be improved but it will never be able to accommodate the kind of traffic that Dinah can.

Exactly, where would you even expand the parking?nomad wrote:Plus it might be difficult to get the locals onside re extra parkingdannett wrote:Nightcliff is a great location and could be improved but it will never be able to accommodate the kind of traffic that Dinah can.

I cant see anyone giving up grassy parkland for a bitumen carpark
So Matt, are you going to put this info to AFANT or the gubbermint?
we all know just how long things take to actually turn a sod so the sooner we get moving the better

What about the little ramp at the back of fanny bay, where the big boat lift is.
There's plenary of room there, protected by the winds, and wouldn't be too much protest if it was developed this way, it's very under ultilised land down there, don't know who owns it all. And not too sure if it could be dredged to make it a most tide ramp, or if it would be too much mucking around.

I will only use Elizabeth River ramp with my boat, Dinah is a nightmare and unless you have someone to drop off and reverse your trailer you're forever waiting to retrieve due to inconsiderate people who need to learn some manners. No one has mentioned East Arm in here, I'm not sure if this could be an option to be expanded to 4 lanes with pontoons on each side, from what I have seen it's pretty exposed in the afternoons and tidal? without pontoons it's hard for solo fishermen and those who have wife and kids on board who are probably on not much help, if you're wife can drive the boat on or reverse a trailer keep that lady!!!
all the other spots are prime land, Waterfront or Cullen Bay...

I've been told a boat park is not an option because of the tides.
I always thought the old fisheries wharf rock wall and parking area could be extended along the channel, a ramp installed, and you would have all-tide access. Reclaim more of the area for parking. Would cost a bit, but it is an all tide option. Problem would be the current.

You would think a post like this is a great way to get info from the local FFF fishos.nomad wrote:I cant see anyone giving up grassy parkland for a bitumen carpark

People just can't be bothered to do something that might be a benefit to themselves, but they will whinge that nothing ever gets done.
What we need to do is get the govt on board

Unfortunately Stu that is the problem, the signs are there, but the law isn't...disco wrote:Kick the tenders off at Dinah would make everything run a lot smoother and faster. All we're asking is for the law to be enforced.
(i mean the legislation, not the popo)
