Yep, it's dollar driven. Having lots of ore money washing around Australia means we can be moral about a lot of things I guess, but that will probably change with time.

Re safety - crocs would only be shot on the bank, or they would sink.

As for what waters are suitable, it would only be the most popular places like Yellow Water, Corroboree and the harbour that (I imagine) would be off limits.

Dunno how they would choose the crocs to be shot but the biggest old ones may well be off limits, unless they are a problem croc.

I don't think a limited number of high-paying croc safaris across the Top End each year would dent their numbers at all.

Run a ballot system like they do in the US and Canada .
Say a quota of 20 crocs for 2013 ,those interested put in thier application pay a fee ,and wait for a draw to see who gets the hunts.
Been working like this in the US and Canada for many years and very succesful , brings in funds to finance the Parks and fauna conservation programs .
A Grizzly Bear hunting tag application cost $500 Canadian whether you get your bear or not., this money goes directly into the management of the parks and animal conservation.

The only thing is US and Canadian citizens are allowed to hunt in National Parks which are opened seasonally for hunting.
Just read on another forum that the NSW Govt has done a deal with the Shooters party to allow hunting in 79 of the 700 odd NSW parks , hopefully this will be the start of some thing good for shooters, after all shooters pay taxes as well and should be allowed to use the park for thier enjoyment.

Seems to me the croc farms here get thier breeding stock for free , breed from them and make the money from the slaughter of the off spring .
I'm not young enough to know every thing .
