I was prettyt much born into it, dad was keen, and every chance he'd get he'd be out there, I think he had 5 boats in about 4 years, not all were to sea worthy, and thats when he'd leave me and my bro at home. We would have our yearly trips to kalbarri, and in those days the tailor you'd catch at red bluff were huge, and plenty of them, I remember some mornings, if you werent there early, you wouldnt evan get a spot on the beach, same as the evening. We had about 4 years off from traveling there, and then the last time we went, we had the whole beach to ourselves, and couldnt evan raise a scale. looking back, perfect example of over fishing for 2 many years without limits.
Also had rellies who lived in mandurah when it was just a small town, was great fishing and crabbing down there as well. around the forshores in perth we would get the old drag nets out for a bit of prawning, and usually do well when they were running.
I reckon it wasnt just the fishing, but the drive to be outdoors and explore while doing somehting you enjoy. i sure hope i pass the same values down to my kids.
Are you a born fisho or did you just get addicted to fishin?
