Related story, waterbird numbers down, probably the same wherever the drought has struck ... https://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-11-19/ ... e/11715412

Re: Trouble on the Murray
The article finished with:
"The only long term fix is more water for the rivers," he said.
"And for that, you need rain."
Now we know what's wrong. There's been a lack of rain and its NOT mismanagement of the water that has led to this result.
Wonder how much money in the way of research grants this guy has gone through to come to that conclusion.
That's like saying that we had a full tank of water and (despite the fact that we've been turning the tap on and off to release or sell water) now that the tank's dry, the real problem is that there's been no rain to refill it.
Nature can inconveniently get in the way of a really good little scheme to make money.
bl..dy nature spoiling everything.

Re: Trouble on the Murray
well said. however the quiet Australians out there must realise that you can only go to the well so many times before its empty. farmers and large stake holders think that water is a right to consume as the end for making more money or increasing the output of there holdings. you export meat or other produce your exporting our water. havnt got a problem with family holdings ,sustainable farms but not those who rape and pillage for the beset of the shareholder and to out do the last ceo. also mining companies who pollute vital remote waterways for the lousy royalty payment received. leaving restoration to the tax payer ,god help us scomo!
