Re: Top End fishing spots under claim
Just about over the whole friggin place. Land claims, political correctness, nanny state, cost of living, lack of work on the horizon.
All the things we love about the Territory are slowly but surely being taken from us.
Viva la Revolution!!!
PS. Survey complete and forwarded to many.

How do claims that include nat parks get decided in the nt ? Should be a federal decision.

This could be pretty catastrophic for the lifestyle up here, just make sure you fill in the survey - at the moment it is your only way to have your voice heard.

How many of us can tick ‘yes’ to all of the survey? I found that I could tick yes to all of it from camping on a boat at Wildman to hitting the coastal creeks from Saltwater Arm. You need a survey like this to remind you of how much fishing you have done.
Fishing that you may not be able to do in the future!

After speaking with a few mates last night they have all said they will pack there business and family up and move out of this place . Without the fishing Darwin doesn't have much else to offer and I can see people leaving in droves to get out of here including myself. Its all about a money grab not land , they just want the Govt to pay them so we can get access

Re: Top End fishing spots under claim
We moved here for the lifestyle, freedoms and the access to such awesome places, and of course the fishing. If all this keeps up, we may as well move back to QLD. At least we aren't locked out of too many places, the national parks are for all to enjoy and are maintained. It'll be a real shame to see more and more areas being either locked out or the big "PAY" mentality (read PERMITS) to use and those permits have so many restrictions attached to it that it is hardly worth the effort.
What is the NLC and Gov actually trying to achieve by doing this??? What is the actual purpose?? This is in no way, shape or form fair for ALL Territorians and Australians. I can't think of any other state where you have to pay to travel to or through an area, and in doing so, having endless restrictions associated with it.
Let's allow gas companies in to frack the poop out of the country, but all you locals aren't allowed access to these other wonderful places freely, except a select few, unless you pay.

Re: Top End fishing spots under claim
Whats the gap in the claim area infront of the houses at the Perons.
I thought it might have been channel point reserve but looks to far around.
Survey done.
While doing the survey it made me realised how much of this area I have actually fished.
Be sad to have it taken away from us..

Re: Top End fishing spots under claim
Edo I hear you loud and clear and don't worry Ken is onto it! The NT Government is going to do their best to resolve access but our options are limited as we don't grant the claims.
Unfortunately Bed and Banks is a commonwealth government matter and the relevant Minister who grants the claims is the Minister for Indigenous Affairs, Nigel Scullion.
So I would suggest completing the AFANT survey form and get out your pen and paper and make sure Nigel Scullion hears you loud and clear. ....especially with a federal election coming up.

I fear that this will be his legacy and he will grant the claim no matter what. And then not even stand at the next election.

Fair Dinkum. I go to the other end of the NT for a week for work and witness all the cr.p they're dealing with again only to arrive back to be greeted witH this F'n BS.
I see the days of John Wayne arriving again soon if this keeps going.
Nigel Scullion.... wake the hell up mate.
I don't have FB! - Is there a way to the survey without it?
