Siamese fighting fish (Betta splendens) in Fogg Dam

Talk about bungled boat ramps, net buybacks, marine no-go zones, mining disasters etc here.

Wasn't your normal rainbow fish had a full fluro blue top and bottom dorsal fins.

Thanks Doug the larger ones are fairly bright blue on top so what you describe is likely that they are the Bettas
I will pass on it as a likely sighting to fisheries.

I went out with fisheries and aquarium fish breeder last weekend to see if we could find a possible source and identify the extent of the range.
So your possible sighting is interesting as the Bettas don't swim very well against any strong water flow and the initial thinking of the origin of the introduction was near Fogg Dam at the end of the day I think the suspicion is that they may have spread from well upstream on the Adelaide River as we could not find many upstream of Fogg dam but they are fairly wide spread across the Adelaide River floodplain upstream of the Hwy.

There was 1 that was say 40 mm and the bigger one was about 70 mm was swimming real slow in the current like you said.
There was quite a few of your normal rain bows these 2 were singles and looked slot different.
