Netting at Shady Camp

Talk about bungled boat ramps, net buybacks, marine no-go zones, mining disasters etc here.

There's also a video of a net at Howard River.

Starting to wonder if the Water Police, while checking bag limits and safety equipment should be looking for the square hooks as well.
I have no doubt there's still quite a few around and it is a big quiet piece of country most times.

IMO, The ABC made assumptions that aren’t correct. They basically said that no action could be taken against him.

I didn't realise that fishing rods, commercially made lures, hooks, modern fishing lines, 4wds, motorbikes, boats, outboards, sonars, GPS, throw nets, gill nets, crossbows and shotguns were traditional aboriginal tools. If they are, then it boils down to the race card and anything else is political spin.

What they are saying is that traditional methods of hunting didn't cease to evolve at the time white man came to Australia...nobody is going to say someone else has to stop using sidescan sounders because it's cheating
Not that I agree with this guy, he's a flog

At least with Side-scan the fish have a chance, and catching them still requires skill. Not much involved when you set a net, and come back later, only to pick thru them, see they have no tags, and then chuck the fish away anyways... Hopefully the general public and wider fishing community kicks up such a stink, that they ban Gill-nets, for EVERYBODY!!!! (That way there is no discrimination.)

The net is bad but my concern is the public danger this dickhead is causing at the boat ramp. Surely this idiot can be done for public endangerment.

Exactly. He is feeding barra to the crocs at the ramp.

He also stated the following on his f/b post
‘who ever comes on my country again I'll spear them’
That’s a direct threat of violence.
im sure the police would love to talk to him

I wonder how he would go if he tried to set the net on a sat morning with a heap of boats lined up.
