Now they are giving 2.9ha of waterfront land to Landbridge for a hotel ... http://www.news.com.au/national/norther ... dbce9a9737
Looks like the casino has some stiff competition on the way. Hopefully the casino will keep supporting Million Dollar Fish
Offering free land may be good for business in Darwin, eg creating work for tradies, and for that reason the people will love it.
But how can other hotel/accommodation operators compete with a company that has been subsidised with 2.9ha of free waterfront land?
Consider ... if you owned a mechanical workshop, and the government gave a free parcel of land to a foreign-owned company to build another bigger, better mechanical workshop next door, you wouldn't be real happy.
In fact, you would probably go broke ...

If the South China Sea problem does blow up, the Chinese ownership of Australian assets will become instantly interesting.

Looks like everyone is happy with the hotel plan ... http://www.news.com.au/national/norther ... 1f89eaa21b
Would have been good to see an Aussie company do it, why are there no Aussie companies putting their hands up?

Carlton Hill Station, WA, was recently sold to Chinese interests, as per another post on FFF.
As was the NT's Wollogorang Station a while back ... http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-07-16/c ... on/6623806
And the NT's Elizabeth Downs ... http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-11-06/s ... ns/5869548
And the Port of Darwin.
And Tasmania's largest dairy.
And a fair bit of Sydney and Melbourne.
In some areas Aussie house prices have been pushed past what many Australians can afford, presumably by foreign investors.
Interesting times? Or not?

Well, it looks like we might soon be leasing 20% of the Darwin Port back off China as no other Australian company thought it was a good deal.
